California Budget Challenge - 2006 UPDATE!

Do you think you can balance California's budget? Next Ten Founder F. Noel Perry invites you to take the updated 2006 California Budget Challenge (www.NextTen.org/challenge) and find out!

Next Ten is launching an update to the California Budget Challenge (www.NextTen.org/challenge) today. Prepare yourself for budget season by getting informed on state budget issues and learning more about the policy choices that face the legislature.

The California Budget Challenge is a nonpartisan Internet tool that lets you roll up your sleeves and create your own state budget. You call the shots on how much to give to schools, health care, prisons and other state programs. Then you make choices on how to pay for these programs.

The Budget Challenge was first launched in April 2005 and this update includes current budget numbers, new policy options, and enhanced graphics. The Budget Challenge does not promote a point of view but rather provides information to help you make your own choices.

Next Ten is an independent, nonpartisan organization that educates, engages and empowers Californians so that, together, we can improve our future economy and quality of life. For more information about Next Ten please visit us online at www.NextTen.org.

Next Ten created the California Budget Challenge as a public service to engage more Californians in the budget process and to foster a greater understanding about the tough choices we need to make to ensure California is a great place to live both now and in the future. Together, we can create the future that we all want for our children and ourselves.
