About the Challenge

How we Developed the Challenge

Next Ten researched best practices in online budget education tools used in California and around the country. We reviewed over 15 other online budget education tools. Next, we developed a prototype and an early version of the Challenge, which we tested with over 130 people in northern and southern California from diverse backgrounds and political leanings. We wanted to make sure the Challenge was user friendly and considered neutral by all sides.

Who Developed the Challenge

Stephen Levy of the Center for Continuing Study of the California Economy created all of the content and projections for the California Budget Challenge. Contributing as part of the product development team were Sarah Henry and Leticia Miranda of Next Ten. The software was developed by Red Hill Studios. F. Noel Perry made this all possible with his generous support for the creation of this educational experience.
